Kinda like you're getting into the imaginary numbers section of Algebra.

But you're right, the mystery of God is so incredible, and yet every day, I try to fit him into my bubble. It satifies my mental projections to have God in a box, but then, it does not satify my spiritual needs.

Traitor! Posting on Xanga?! How dare you! So, I'm commenting here ;)

You know, Ben, there was a Calvin and Hobbes comic one time where Hobbes was doing Calvin's math homework and he said something about imaginary numbers and I thought that was a hilarious concept and then I got to high school and found out that Hobbes wasn't making it up. Kinda sad to hear but it makes mathematicians all the more funnier (and I thought they got the sense of humor organ removed!) (Ha!).

Anyways, Joel: very cool post on your brand-X blog ;) I think more and more I'm realizing that God is a big concept. And by big, I mean really big. One of the fundamental things that drives that home to me is how Lisa and I can view God as completely different but both us have equally valid views.

It's a lot like looking at the moon. From here on earth I can only see one side of the moon. Does that mean that what I'm seeing is all there is? Absolutely not. Someone on another earth directly opposite our earth could be seeing the other side of the moon but never my side. Thing is, the moon is way too big for it to come to earth for us to figure what's on the dark side. It's up to us to fly over there and begin our orbits.

Heh heh, isn't it funny how you start off with a little baby idea and by the time you write it all out it's actually a semi-valid analogy? Winging it. If anyone should be so myopic as to call me genius, I hope they preface it with "incidental" because I seem to only land on the good stuff accidentally :)
